Partying til the sun comes up: Oktoberfest ends in style at the LLV afterparty
The Oktoberfest festival in Puerto Galera, celebrating our being named the official Diving Capital of the Philippines, came to a literally all-singing-all-dancing climax on Sunday night at the official LLV after-party, with spectacular fire dancing, thumping DJ sets, cocktails and fun in our pool at a party which kept buzzing until the sun came up.
For the last ten days Puerto Galera has enjoyed festivities which included a Muelle singing competition, incredible street food along the Sabang boardwalk, a community diving day and music from bands including Chansa and Natural High, and Filipino rock superstar Dong Abay.
As the classiest resort with the biggest swimming pool, Lalaguna Villas was delighted to host the event’s official closing party.
Our guest Belinda explained: “It was an amazing party, they were so generous and it was a fantastic atmosphere.
“LLV laid on boats from Sabang to bring people here and when I arrived someone greeted me and invited me in, they gave me a complimentary drink and there were free canapes – sliders and spring rolls and so on, which were delicious.
“I went in and said hi, lots of people I know were there, there were people in the pool partying, people drinking, some families having dinner just relaxing.
“A waitress came up to me, she was super nice and friendly, and then later I was over on the other side of the pool and she came up again and remembered my name and asked me if I wanted anything, it was a really nice touch, made me feel very welcome – that’s very special service.
“And the cocktails all night long were delicious!”
As the night went on DJs took turns on the decks and kept the atmosphere pumping.
“The music was really cool,” party-goer Luke told the LLV blog.
“It was a good mix of old skool and techno, or classics with a modern twist, it was really great.
“Loads of people were dancing, the lighting was fantastic with lasers and lightshow effects that bounced off all the balloons in the pool, it felt like a fantastic way to end the week of celebrations.”
Another reveller said: “The fire-dancing was incredible, there was always something to catch your eye, the choreography was unbelievable, so exciting.
“And as they finished their set they let people take photos with them or with the fire, for memories, it was a really great night.”
The party didn’t start to wind down until the pre-dawn was lighting the skies over Puerto Galera, now officially the Diving Capital of the Philippines.
